- Sales tax receipts for the City of Fairfield crossed a new threshold this year by topping the $2 million mark.
A reimbursement check from the state comptroller for $172,062 in December provided the boost to reach $2.1 million for the year.
The December check was 30.32 percent more than was received by the city in December 2006. Sales tax revenue for the year was up 13.29 percent from the $1.88 million reimbursed in 2006.
Those increases compare to a state wide rise of 9.86 percent in December and 6.86 percent for the year.
December sales tax checks represent taxes collected in October and reported to the comptroller in November.
