Junior student Candice DeFriend and senior Matt Harris were chosen to represent Fairfield high school in the All-State band which will perform on Saturday, Feb. 16 in San Antonio.
Miss DeFriend, 17, a member of the Grand Band from Eagle Land for five and half years, plays the French horn and was selected to participate in the All-State band after placing in the top four at All-Area band auditions.
She is the daughter of Morris and Jackie DeFriend of Fairfield and was ranked top student of her sophomore class in 2007.
Matt Harris, 17, has been a member of the FHS band for five and half years and plays the tuba.
He attended auditions for All-Region and All-Area bands before he was selected for All-State.
Harris will attend Texas A&M in College Station in the fall where he plans to continue with band and would like to study biology.
He is the son Joe and DeAnn Harris of Fairfield.
