- A 20-year-old Donie man died early Monday when he swerved to miss a skunk in the road and his vehicle rolled.
The wreck, which claimed the life of Christopher Ross Waldrip, occurred 3.6 miles west of Dew on FM 489 about 7 a.m.
Waldrip was driving east in a 2004 Toyota 4-Runner and was rounding a curve when he attempted to swerve and miss hitting a skunk, Department of Public Safety Trooper Sara Warren reports.
The vehicle left the roadway on the left, went into a skid and rolled two times, coming to rest on its wheels, the trooper says.
The 20-year-old was ejected from the vehicle during the wreck and his body was found about 20 feet from the vehicle near the shoulder of the road, Trooper Warren reports.
Waldrip was not wearing a seat belt, her accident report shows.

Teague Emergency Medical Service transported the accident victim to East Texas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead by Peace Justice Theresa Farris, precinct one.
The wreck was reported by a passing motorist.
