Funeral services were held Monday, August 6 in Kirvin for Sarah Goolsby Nettle, 94, who died Friday, August 3.
Mrs. Nettle was born August 29, 1912 in Kirvin to W.J. Goolsby and Ella Teer Goolsby. She was a lifelong Kirvin resident.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. at Kirvin Baptist Church, with Rev. Johnny Layton, Dr. Dick Sisk and Rev. James Huffstetler officiating.
Burial was at Woodland Cemetery. Her grandson and great-grandsons served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Nettle is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Shirley Nettle of Helotes; a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Evenda and Johnny Layton of Lake Limestone; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren;
Two sisters, Tina Christian of The Woodlands and Nora Mitchell of Pasadena.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Batchelor Nettle; a son, John D. Nettle; and two brothers, Valstine Goolsby and William Goolsby.
Arrangements were made by Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Fairfield.
