Graveside services were held Monday at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague for Nicolas Davila, 49, of Fairfield who died Thursday, May 1, at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.
Mr. Davila was born in Mexico on May 9, 1958, and worked as a pipe fitter at Mike Daniels Construction Company.
Services were conducted by Rev. Rick Gray of Calvary Baptist Church in Mexia.
Mr. Davila is survived by his wife of 30 years Pat Davila of Fairfield; daughters Melanie Bonner and husband Rocky, Misty Carter and husband Jason and Stephanie Overall, all of Fairfield; stepsons Michael Holloway and wife Mary of Grand Prairie, David Holloway and wife Julie of Eagan, Minnesota, and Gary Holloway and wife Wendy of Waxahachie; grandchildren Tate, Blake and Kolby Overall, Britney and Seth Morgan, all of Fairfield, Maegan and Aron Holloway of Grand Prairie, Jonathan and Caleb Holloway of Waxahachie, and Zachary, Allie and Charlie Holloway of Eagan, Minnesota; mother Callentana Guerrero of San Martin, Mexico; sisters Inez Contreras and husband Pablo of Fairfield, Rufina Escobedo and husband Francesco, and Guadalupe Ramirez and husband Lupe, all of Mexico; and uncle Asiano Guerrero Sisneros.
He was preceded in death by his father Victor Davila.

Bruce McClain Ivy

Funeral services were held Monday for Bruce McClain Ivy, 44, of Fairfield who died Thursday, May 1.
Mr. Ivy was born in Pasasdena on Nov. 19, 1963 to Jerry Joe and Carolyn Ivy.
Services were conducted at the Griffin-Roughton Chapel at 10 a.m. with Rev. Richard Ivy officiating.
Interment followed at Huntington Cemetery.
Mr. Ivy is survived by fiancé Michelle Cook of Shreveport; parents Jerry and Carolyn Ivy of Fairfield; grandmother Mary Ethel Ivy of Huntington; and sister Janice Clay and husband David of Temple.
He was preceded in death by brother David Pomykal.
Arrangements were made by Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home of Fairfield.


Johnnie Mae Mabry

Funeral services were held Wednesday for Johnnie Mae Mabry, 93, of Rusk who died Sunday, May 4, in a hospice in Tyler.
Mrs. Mabry was born in Helmic on May 20, 1914 to John Quincy and Mary Etta Davidson Hicks.
She was a longtime resident of Rusk and a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Rusk.
Services were conducted at Salem Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. Tommy Mabry with interment following at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Mrs. Mabry's grandsons.
Mrs. Mabry is survied by her son Tommy Mabry and wife Sandra of Rusk; daughters Cynthie Smith and husband Norman of Houston, Bessie Fritz and husband Laymon of Conroe, and Janis Campbell and husband Tommy of Fairfield; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Henry Mabry; son Capt. Donald H. Mabry; daughter Irma Jean Lloyd; and great grandchildren Justin Fritz and Kayla Denn.

Marie Mayo

Funeral services were held last month for Marie Mayo, 86, of Rusk who died April 25, in Jacksonville.
Mrs. Mayo was born in Trinidad on Sept. 21, 1921, to the late William Jarrett and Minnie Stevens Stanfield.
She lived in Rusk for 50 years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Mayo retired in 1994 after 14 years of service with Rusk Independent School District and had also worked as a child care provider for 30 years.
Her hobbies included arts and crafts.
Serivces were conducted by Revs. Don Copeland and G.A. Stanfield on April 28 at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Mayo is survived by her sons Jim Mayo and wife Judy of Henderson and Jerry Don Mayo and wife Teresia of Chapel Hill; daughter Linda Griffin and husband of Streetman; eight grandchildren; and 11great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Aubrey Mayo; sisters Odessa Word and Leona Jackson; and brother Luther Stanfield.

- Mattie Mae James

Funeral services were held last weekend for Mattie Mae James, 76, of Teague who died Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.
Mrs. James was born in 1931 on Aug. 18.
Services were at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the First Baptist Church of North Teague with Larry Rose and E.J. Malone officiating.
Burial was at Antioch Cemetery in Teague.
Mrs. James is survived by children Brenda Tutt and husband Lonnie of Teague, Kathleen Lindley and husband Wilmer of Lancaster, Bobby James and wife Daphne of Dallas, and Era James of Teague; siblings Doris Burns and husband Lonnie of Dallas, Alene “Tiny” Smith of Dallas, and Eugene Hall of Kilgore; 20 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; and friends Alpha Bess Dixon and Odessa Mims.

Wilma Jean Lambert

Funeral services were held last month for Wilma Jean Lambert, 92, of Fairfield who died Wednesday, Jan. 23.
Mrs. Lambert was born in Fairfield on June 10, 1915 to parents John and Margaret Blakely.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at Fairfield Cemetery with John Ray Bailey officiating.
Mrs. Lambert is survived by sons Ralph Lambert and wife Sue of Fairfield, Gene Lambert and wife Ellen of Oklahoma, and Herman Lambert and wife Linda of Colorado; brother Clyde Blakely of Lubbock; and two great, great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by parents John and Margaret Blakely; husband Alton Lambert; son Kenneth Lambert; sisters Eunice Jordan, Astorlene Swartzfager, Eva Williford, and Evelyn Brown; and brothers Addison Blakely, Arden Blakely, and Paul Blakely.

James Cameron Sharp

Memorial services were held yesterday for James Cameron Sharp, 89, of Teague who died Friday, Feb. 1 at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia.
Mr. Sharp was born on Sept. 26, 1918 and serve in the United Staes Army as a Corporal.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Bowers Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Sharp is survived by sons James Cameron Sharp, Jr. of Fairfield and Aaron Mitchell Sharp of Houston; daughter Anna Louise Sharp Perkins of Teague; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by wife, Louise Mitchell Sharp and son Stephen Carl Sharp.

J.W. Mitchell, Jr.

Funeral services were held yesterday for J.W. Mitchell, Jr., 85, of Garland who died on Friday, Feb. 1.
Mr. Mitchell was born in Cedar Hill on Aug. 8, 1922 to parents Jesse William and Minnie Scott Mitchell.
He served in the United States Army Air Force in the 389th bomber group, flying a B-24 Liberator in 31 missions over Germany.
Mr. Mitchell continued to serve in the reserves and was called to duty again during the Korean War, where he served in Japan for two years.
He graduated from Sunset high school in Dallas and after returning from military duty he earned his bachelors degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
Mr. Mitchell worked as a certified public accountant for 40 years and taught Bible credit courses.
Services were held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Centerville Road Church in Garland.
Burial was at George Cemetery in Clay Hill.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by daughters Donna Roberts and husband Jackie of Waxahachie, Judy Mitchell of Clay Hill and Bobby Guinn and husband Doug of Garland; son Jerry Mitchell and wife Debbie of DeSoto; nine grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by parents Jesse and Minnie Mitchell and wife L. Rae George Mitchell.

Arthur Lee Pruitt

Funeral services were held last weekend for Arthur Lee Pruitt, 86, of Buffalo who died Tuesday, Jan. 29 at East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield.
Mr. Pruitt was born in Idabel, Oklahoma on Nov. 8, 1921 to parents Johnny Lee and Vera Toone Pruitt.
He served in the United States Army and owned and operated Pruitt’s Cleaners.
Mr. Pruitt was also a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Bovina.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2 at Bethel Baptist Church with Larry Morris officiating.
Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tony Kelso, Troy Kelso, Kevin Kelso, Gene Pruitt, Tommy Davis and Cory Cunningham.
Mr. Pruitt is survived by son Gene Pruitt and wife Darla of Buffalo; daughter Brenda Kelso and husband Tally of Llano; grandsons Tony Kelso and wife Colette, Troy Kelso and wife Gennie, Kevin Kelso and wife Cristy, and Gene Pruitt, Jr. and wife Leah; brothers Prentis Pruitt and wife Sherlynn of Bovina, and Billy Pruitt and wife Janet of New Port, Oregon; sisters Margie Robinett and husband Donald of Kerrville, “Mag” Skinner of Springfield, Oregon, and Sally Radford of Buffalo, Oklahoma; and 11 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by wife Rosie Marie Pruitt and parents Johnny and Vera Pruitt.

Funeral services were held last week for Ernest M. Black, 70, of Houston died Monday, Jan. 21.
Mr. Black was born in Teague on Jan. 27, 1937 to parents Ben and Mable Black.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Aid officiating.
Internment followed at Dew Cemetery.
He is survived by children Tressia Nichols, Carrell Varnell, Darrell Black and wife Rhonda, Ernest Black, Jr. and wife Shawn, Terry Black and wife Tammy; brother M.T. Black and wife Thelma; sisters Bernice Latham and husband Sumpter, and Betty Farrell; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Trevellia Terry Chappell

Funeral services were held last weekend for Trevellia Terry Chappell, 80, of Clay Hill who died Wednesday, Jan. 23 at Palestine Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Chappell was a longtime resident of the Clay Hill community.
She was a member of the Church of Christ for over 40 years and worked in the cafeteria during her 13 year employment with Teague Independent School District.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Fairfield Church of Christ.
Burial was at Driver Cemetery.
Mrs. Chappell is survived by her sons Albert A. Terry, Jr. and wife Susie of Palestine, and Mike Terry and wife Beverly of Jacksonville; grandchildren Amanda Cockerham and husband Tim of Bryan, Carl Lane of Palestine, and Michael Terry of Kingsville; great-granddaughter, Hannah Kate Cockerham of Bryan; and sister Patricia Walker of Price.
She is preceded in death by daughter Millie Terry; and husbands Austin Terry, 40 years, and Alton Chappell, 10 years.

Sylvia Bastin Childs

Funeral services will be held today for former Fairfield city council member and longtime Freestone County Museum curator Sylvia Bastin Childs, 79, who died Sunday, Jan. 27.
Mrs. Childs was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 26, 1928 parents Roy and Julia Kucta Bastin.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Fairfield where Mrs. Childs was a member.
Rev. Paul Kethley and David Filis will officiate.
Burial is at Fairfield Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Harry Moore, David Zilar, Pontene Daniel, Steve Emmons, Russ Loper, Danny Robertson, Jim McKee and Ed Rewine.

Charles Ray Holt

Charles R. Holt, 74, died Tuesday, Jan. 22 in Portland, Oregon.
Mr. Holt was born in Streetman on Aug. 16, 1933 to Elmer (Bo) and Ola Holt.
He graduated from Wortham high school in 1950 and the University of Texas after four years in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Holt is survived by wife Mary Lou; daughter Jenny Mair; son Brad; granddaughter Gillian; grandson Lee; brothers Johnny and Gene; and sister Gwen Adams.
Mr. Holt’s body was cremated and no services were held.

- Harriet Melviney Castile

Funeral services were held this week for Harriet Melviney Castile, 100, of Wortham who died Friday, Jan. 18 at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia.
Mrs. Castile was born in Bremond on Oct. 30, 1907.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at Antioch Baptist Church in Mexia with Rev. Cleo High and Tas Betts officiating.
Internment followed at the Wortham Cemetery.
Mrs. Castile is survived by grandchildren Marcia A. Weathers and husband Elmer (Bubba) of Mexia, Claraness Washington and husband Thelbert of Hewitt, Joyce Bradford and husband Roy of Corsicana, Derrick Anthony Castile of Corsicana and Danny Michael Castile and wife Zoleta of Mexia; 19 great grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Doc Mato Castile.

Mary Emma English

Funeral services were held last month for Mary Emma English, 85, of Carthage who died Wednesday, Dec. 19.
Mrs. English was born in Nacogdoches on March 19, 1922 and taught fifth grade at Galena Park in Houston.
She later married Raymond English and was a devoted member of Wood Forest Presbyterian church.
Services were held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20 at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Nacogdoches.
Mrs. English is survived by stepson Jimmy English of Fairfield; step granddaughter Mary Opal Lucas; stepmother Louise Burk of Carthage; and special friend and caregiver Johnnie Mason Harrison of Carthage.
She is preceded in death by husband Raymond English.

Jason L. Mooneyhan

Funeral sercives were held last week for Jason Lee Mooneyhan, 25, of Fairfield who died Thursday, Jan. 10 in Montgomery county.
Mr. Mooneyhan was born in Palestine on October 5, 1982.
Services were held Tuesday, Jan. 15 at Capps Memorial Chapel with Rev. Don Suits, II officiating.
Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were L.J. McAdams, David Pickens, Clint Pickens, Tony Adkins, Clark Fryer, Chris Whiteside, Chad Hagen, Josh Holcombe and Allen Lott.
Honorary pallbearer was Yates Manahan.
Mr. Mooneyhan is survived by wife Cydni Mooneyhan of Huntsville; daughter Alexis Mooneyhan of Seagoville; mother Decklann Phillips of Oakwood; father Billy Mooneyhan and wife Kitty of Conroe; paternal grandmother Joyce Lewis of Corsicana; maternal grandparents James and Oma Loretta Killough; nephews Xavier Brackens and Michael Busby, both of Wortham and Taylor Alexander of Conroe; and niece Bailey Alexander of Conroe.
He is preceded in death by his stepfather Glen W. Phillips.

Earl E. Park, Jr.

Funeral services were held Monday for Earl. E. Park, Jr., 78, of Teague who died Friday, Jan. 18 at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia.
Mr. Park was born in Houston on Nov. 18, 1929.
He served in the Marine Corp during World War II and was employed with Houston Belt and Terminal Railroad in Houston until retiring in November of 1989.
Mr. Park was a member of the Masonic lodge and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 21 at Bowers Funeral Home with Dale Lehfeldt officiating.
He is survived by wife Betty Park of Teague; daughter Patricia Terry of Teague; grandchildren Ramicia Moreno and fiancé William Brunson of Abilene, Michael Jeffery Quest of Teague and James Alan Fuller, Jr. of Houston; great grandchildren Hector Alejandro Gaitan, Jr. and fiancé Victoria Hunter of Ferris, Julia Ann Moreno and Jacob Alan Moreno of Abilene; and great great grandson Anthony Elian Moreno of Red Oak.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude's Hospital.
